RF & ULTRASONIC WELDING

Ultrasonic Welding joins different type of thermoplastics and materials through heat generated by high frequency mechanical waves that produce “vibrating motion”. It’s somewhat similar to RF welding which uses radio waves to create the heat. The ultrasonic acoustic wave “vibrations” are introduced along and across the joint to be welded, and the absorption and transfer of wave’s energy causes local melting and blend-mix of various materials.

This type of welding eliminates fabrics fraying and is a good alternative to any adhesives, screws, and snap fits. It’s mostly used to permanently weld join small components, for example: cell phones parts, toys, tools, and other consumer goods and generally joins dissimilar materials.

Ultrasonic Welding “sets” quicker than adhesives or solvents. The use of this manufacturing process cuts the amount of time the pieces need to remain immobilized, and permits the fabrication of components by demand. As the manufacturing process of ultrasonic welding can also be easily automated, it does allow the creation of weld mating with very clean
and precise joints. Ultrasonic Welding is just one of several
manufacturing processes implemented at AGORA, and the
application allows quicker development and delivery of
components, minimizing costs and production timelines.
