Project: Headgear Design for Sleep Apnea Patients – AB1426

Challenge

Sleep Apnea is a disorder that occurs when a patient’s breathing is disrupted during sleep. As a result, a breathing machine is used overnight to assist with breathing. A mask is secured to the face using fabric headgear. At times, this headgear can be cumbersome and uncomfortable. The quality of sleep can be negatively affected by irritating headgear.

Solution

After reviewing current designs of headgear with local Sleep Apnea patients, we considered all complaints and concerns when designing an alternate headgear. The ergonomic fit contours to the shape of the head and provides a more universal and comfortable design for patients.
